In this article, we will discuss the options in the Limitation Users Tab of the WordPress Quiz Maker Plugin.
Limitation of Users #
- Maximum number of attempts per user
This option has a few fields. Let’s go over them one by one.

Detects users by: There are four checkboxes here. Check one depending on what user attributes you want to consider when logging in.
By IP – Choose this checkbox if you want to detect the users by their IP addresses. This will work both for guests and registered users. Please keep in mind that IP constantly changes when the user changes his location, WIFI, or Internet provider.
By User ID – Choose this checkbox if you want to detect the users using their WP User IDs. This will work only for registered users. This method gives relatively more reliable results.
By Cookie – Choose this checkbox if you want to detect the users by their browser cookies. This will work both for guests and registered users.
By IP and Cookie – Choose this checkbox if you want to detect the users both by their browser cookies and IP addresses. This will also work both for guests and registered users.
Attempts count: Write down the number of counts per user who were detected with one of the previous methods. After reaching the limit, they will be restricted from taking the quiz.
Pass score for attempt restriction (%): For this option, you need to write a pass score for the quiz in percentage. The users can take the quiz no more than the Attempts count limit (previous option) if they get more than the pass score.
For example, the Limit of the user attempts is set to 3, and the Pass score for attempt restriction is 30%. The user can take the quiz a maximum of 3 times by getting more than a 30% score for each quiz. Otherwise, the user can take the quiz as much as they want if they get a score lower than that.
Attempts count for each user role: Use this option if you have enabled the Only for Selected User Role option. Write down the limit of attempts for each user role.
Message: Here, you can write a message for the users who already reached the limit of the attempts.
Redirect URL: You can put here the URL of the page that you want to redirect after reaching the limit of attempts.
Redirect delay(s): Choose the period of time after which the user will be redirected using the URL provided above.
Turn on extra security check: If you tick this option, the results of additional attempts to take the quiz in other tabs after reaching the limit will not be counted.
Hide attempts limitation notice: If any limitation is set, you can choose to hide the warning about the remaining attempts for the user.
- Only for logged in users
By ticking this option, only logged-in users will have the possibility to take the quiz.
You can write a message for those who are not logged in. Tick the Show Login form checkbox to display the login form at the bottom for users who are not logged in.

- Only for selected user role
With this option, you can select user roles that will be allowed to take the quiz. You can write a message for those who are not able to take the quiz.

- Access only selected users
With this option, you can select users who have access to take the quiz. You can write a message for other users who aren’t able to take it.

- Limitation count of takers
Set a maximum number of users who can take the quiz. You can write a message for the users after the quiz will be expired.

- Password for passing quiz
This option is great if you want to make your quiz password-protected. Here is an article on how to make a password-protected quiz.
You have two checkboxes: General and Generated Passwords.
Tick the General checkbox if you want to manually write a password for your quiz. Then, you can choose to enable the toggle password visibility feature. You can also write a message that will be shown to users before entering the password.

Tick the Generated Passwords checkbox if you want to generate multiple passwords for your quiz.
First, with the Default checkbox, write down the number of passwords you want to generate and click on the Submit button. From the Created list, choose your preferred passwords by clicking on the icon near them. With the passwords from the Active list, users can take the quiz. You can move it to the Used list in the same way if you don’t want to use that password anymore.

Moreover, choose File Upload or Clipboard checkboxes to add a password from a file (in TXT or CSV format) or write it in the clipboard.

Those were all the quiz limitation settings that you can use for your WordPress quiz.
