Common Cases related to the Certificate feature #

The developers of the AYS Pro company do their best to provide the perfectly working functionalities for the plugin. However, the plugin users may still encounter some issues conditioned by different factors. In this detailed article, we will discuss all the common cases that quiz users may encounter when using the Certificate functionality. So, let’s begin.

Case #1| The Certificate can’t be generated #

If you are trying to generate a Certificate and this function doesn’t work for you, please follow these easy steps to troubleshoot and fix the problem.

  • Head to the Quizzes > particular quiz > Email&Certificate Tab and download the PDF API addon.
Installing PDF API Addon

Then, install the downloaded PDF API addon without removing the Quiz Maker plugin. You can install the PDF API addon in the same way you install plugins. For more information on how to install plugins, you can refer to the Plugin Installation Documentation.

After installing the addon, you can try to generate a Certificate again.

Please note, that it is not compulsory to activate the PDF API addon only when you are having problems with it. You can also install it if you don’t want to generate a Certificate via our API.

The problem doesn’t get fixed even after installing the PDF API addon #

If you have already installed the PDF API addon and you are sure you have correctly configured all the plugin settings, then, in this case, get in touch with your Hosting Provider. Ask them to check the following cases:

  • Whether there are active firewalls connected to the cURL of your website or not. If yes, ask them to deactivate the firewalls and check the case again in that way.
  • Whether there are any permissions enabled. If you are getting errors, like, for example, a 404 page error and there are enabled permissions, ask them to remove the permissions.

Case #2| The Certificate Background Image can’t be generated #

The problem related to generating a Certificate Background Image may relate to the Security plugins and the permissions on your website.

Please contact your Hosting Provider and ask them whether there are any Security plugins or permissions enabled for your website. If yes, ask to deactivate them as due to them, we are not able to take the file content and generate a Certificate Background image.

Case #3| Certificate can’t be sent via email after the quiz completion #

If you’ve enabled the Certificate feature from the Email & Certificate tab and the email isn’t sending, follow these steps to fix it.

  • Head to the Quizzes page > particular quiz > User Data Tab.
  • Make sure you have enabled the Information Form option.
  • Also, make sure to drop the Name and Email Default fields from the Available Fields to the Active Fields.
Enabling Information Form Option

The Certificate can’t be generated even if the Information Form is configured correctly #

If you are sure you have correctly configured the Information Form option and the Certificate functionality, but the problem still persists, then you can try to fix the case in these ways.

  • Method 1: The email feature of our plugin must work without any additional plugins.
If there is a problem with email sending, then, there are some incorrect configurations on your Server Side.
There may be a problem with the Hosting Provider. So, you can get in touch with your Hosting Provider so they can check the email functionality.
  • Method 2: For sending emails in the Quiz Maker plugin, we use the WordPress default wp_mail function provided by WordPress. There may be an issue with this function.
If you have an active SMTP plugin, then you can send emails through that plugin. In both cases, the Quiz Maker plugin does not influence the email-sending process; in the first case, WordPress handles it, and in the second, the SMTP plugin does.
We would recommend installing the SMTP plugin and checking the case in that way. You can try the following one:

Please note, that you’re free to explore other suitable SMTP plugins and install the one that suits your requirements best.
The one we provided is just an example.

Case #4| Using Fonts for Certificate #

The Certificate of the WordPress Quiz Plugin is generated via third-party, that is the TCPDF Library. Please note, that it doesn’t support every font. So, you can use the fonts supported by the TCPDF Library.

You can check the supported fonts by referring to the following link:

Case #5| Can’t make the %%download_certificate%% message variable work for quiz #

The WordPress Quiz Plugin offers a great number of message variables you can use to create more advanced quizzes. One of those message variables is the %%download_certificate%%. With the help of this message variable, the users can download the certificate by clicking on the button from the front end at the end of the quiz.

Some users may encounter problems when using this message variable mentioning that it may fail to display at the end of the quiz.

To make this message variable work, follow these steps:

  • Head to the Quizzes > particular quiz > Results Settings Tab > Result Message option.
  • Insert the message variable in this option.
  • Then, enable either the Send certificate to user or the Generate certificate without sending to user option.
